The Story of Us Part 2!

Part Two: The History, Summer 2002

DJ and I met originally in May 2002, 10 years ago in Lindsay, Ontario, where my family had a summer trailer, and where DJ was living at the time. He was 18, I was 13 going on 14. Naturally when I met him I lied about my age, I must have said I was 15 or 16. He introduced himself as Dustin, not DJ, even though his family calls him DJ. He was beautiful. He stood 5'9” , short dark brown hair, and beautiful green, almost turquoise eyes. To this day I can't remember what he would have said to me in the first place to get my attention, but whatever it was must have worked because we did end up kissing in an alley beside the bowling alley. We exchanged numbers, I remember that he wrote his on the corner of a lined sheet of paper. We must have talked on the phone a number of times and he even wrote me a few letters and sent me a picture of himself, before we lost touch. In July we ended up reconnecting just through a matter of fate. I ended up meeting his brother Darryl randomly when him and his friends were camping on Goat Island across the lake from our trailer park, my friend and I had taken a trip on the paddle boat across the water and the guys their ended up coaxing us towards the island and chatted with us for a little bit. Later in the evening they came over to our side of the water in their boat, that's when I met Darryl and out of curiosity asked if he knew anyone named Dustin W********, Lindsay is a small town, so I thought the odds were pretty good, and he said “DJ! That's my brother!”, I didn't think the odds were THAT good! I told him that we had met a few months back but lost touch, so he offered to give DJ a call and we walked up to the payphone and Darryl called him and told him he was standing there with “this girl who said she knew you, named Natasha”, and then Darryl handed me the phone and walked away. DJ and I talked for a bit and made plans to get together the following day, he was going to pick me up with his grandpa and my step sister would chaperone. He picked me up early the next morning, and we drove to his grandparents in Bobcaygeon. We went swimming and canoeing and had lunch together. We just had a good time together. Then that was the last time I saw DJ. We had written each other letters, and called each other, but I remember going to PEI that summer for a couple weeks and that probably had something to do with us not being able to keep in touch, and by the time I had come back from PEI, DJs family moved to Port Hope. Over the next 10 years I would think about DJ often, not as often as every day or every week, but at least once a month, I guess sometimes more, because whenever I would pass “Bloor Railings” I would think of him, because at the time he was working with his (Step) Dad there. And for about a year I would pass there every day because I went to a high school right around the corner. I searched for him on facebook a couple times and never found anything, until about late 2011, when I stumbled upon him through a facebook high school page. But he wasn't there as DJ W******* he was there as DJ La*****. I sent him a message but never got one back. In April 2010 I even went as far as emailing Bloor Railings just to see if everything was okay with him, I had been thinking about him a lot at that time. But I never heard anything.

Stay tuned for more, trying to post these little excerpts every 2 or 3 days
